Osteopaths are practitioners of manual medicine; in other words, they work with their hands both to diagnose conditions and to treat them.

Osteopathy is a system of health care that focuses on treatment of the physical body, the joints, muscles and connective tissues with hands-on techniques ranging from gentle cranial and functional treatments for babies and children to deep tactile pressure, stretching and manipulation for treating muscular contractions following periods of immobility or to breaking down scar tissue caused by trauma.

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment that lays its main emphasis on the structural and mechanical problems of the body. It is concerned with the body’s framework and how it functions. Osteopathy is based on the theory that the musculoskeletal system is more than just scaffolding from which the body’s organs hang.

Osteopathy maintains that there is a reciprocal relationship between structure and function.
